Raw Edge Applique from a Picture

| Skill Details: | Must be able to use scissors, trace outlines, and know how to use the sewing machine you bring to the second class. |

| Requirements: | Two-day class: arrive 9 - 9:15a for a 9:30a start. October 19th (Saturday) & a subsequent Saturday determined at the Oct. 19th class This is a technique class using your photograph and your fabric. No sewing machine required at the first class, but one is needed for the project. Supplies Tuesday Two photos of one image: one Color AND a Black & White photo (see note below) Pencil and or fine point marker Scissor(s) for cutting various sizes of fabric Scraps of fabric to construct your picture (to emulate your picture or however you wish to design it) Steam-a-seam lite (amount depends on size of project) Iron & (or use the class iron and ironing station) Rotary cutter (45mm & 28mm) and mat (class has a large communal mat) Tracing paper or newsprint Muslin fabric 2-4” bigger than your desired project size Optional: Light box (There is one to share in the classroom) Saturday Your project Any additional supplies from Tuesday’s class as needed Sewing machines with free motion foot Coordinating thread Note: 1. You can enlarge your photo (printer copier on regular paper is fine and less expensive than getting a bigger photograph!) 2. We will be going to Torrington Office Supply (TOS) to enlarge the drawing to your desired project size, on Tuesday. If you chose to have your picture enlarged, it needs to be of good quality and in black & white (grey scale). TOS can enlarge up to 25” by as long as you want it. |
